Bennett--12 Months

Happy 1 Year B!!!
Fun at Mustang Mott with the cousins!
Meal time--we need a bigger table!
Porter Reunion--Celebrating 100 years of Porter Farms!  All the Boswell Porter great-grandchildren!
1st true pair of shoes (meaning...the first ones that weren't hand-me-downs!)
You LOVE exploring outside!
Beep!  Beep!!
Growth
  • At your 1 year check-up you weighed 22.13 pounds and were 31.75 inches tall.
  • Still Size 4 diapers and 12/18 month clothing
Sleeping
  • Nothing's changed except now that you've gone back to daycare (sorry...mommy had to go back to work!), your naps aren't as long.  You love watching everything and don't want to miss anything!
Eating
  • Trying to lessen the amount of milk you drink.  You like water, so it's not too bad.
  • Also trying to take away the morning bottle.  Tried to do this really close to the time you went back to daycare might have been the problem, because as I type this, you still have it b/c you fought me so much on the sippy cup.  Too many transitions at one time.  My bad!
Handsome guy!
The Land of Bennett
  • Your walking has improved so much!  You love to venture down the driveway--too bad we live on such a busy street! You also LOVE riding in your car and it keeps you busy for a good 10-15 minutes.  You feel so big when you push it around!
  • You love to navigate the backyard and check out the dogs, toys on the patio, etc.  You're such an outdoor lover!  I need to make sure I rest up so we can play outside when I get home from school!
  • First haircut!
  • First Gobbler football game!  I love, love, love your outfit!  I got it from friends and couldn't wait until you could wear it!  You absolutely LOVED the football game and all the action you saw, places you could climb, people you could hang on, etc!
Go Mean Green!
Ahh...what a great cape I have!
  • Walking around with a blanket keeps you happy and busy for at least 15-20 minutes!  You laugh and laugh as you hide under it, drag it behind you, or just hang it like a cape!  We love to see you this happy with something so simple!

Got Milk???

I do!  Not an over-abundance like some people, but literally just enough for my little guy each day (until he began drinking a half-gallon, that is!)

Point being...I actually don't mind pumping anymore.  It is a guaranteed 10-30 minutes just for me.  I learned how to do it quickly at school on my 30 minute lunch break (and that break included a bathroom run, microwave run, set up/take down of "the pump", and getting said pump ready for the conference period rush!). I've learned how to do it in the front seat of the car on the way into Houston for something.  I've learned that the quick clean wipes are the bomb!  So all in all, it's not a big deal to me anymore--unless I forget the pump or something important for pumping!

Here are some of my blunders in the 5 months I've been pumping:

  • Not bringing the pump on a day trip (this was while I was still trying to nurse, so it wasn't deemed "important" at the time).  HOWEVER, when we changed plans and decided to go visit my parents after the day trip, it was of  PRIME importance.  Hence, the stop at the Hallettsville Wal-Mart so Jeff could go buy a pump while I tried to nurse in the parking lot!  All they had was a single electric pump and I had fun figuring it out in the car.  Worked great as an extra, so it was well worth it to me!

Insert sound effect here:  the "lock/load sound of a gun"--chk, chk

Insert sound effect here:  the "pow" of a gun!  This is how we have fun in the car!

  • Forgetting the bottles.  Yep--after Thanksgiving, apparently food had clouded my brain, so I packed everything BUT the bottles!  Had to get a friend to cover the beginning of my class, so I could run home and get them about 10 minutes before school started!  (Couldn't run home during lunch....needed that time to pump...see the issues???).

  • Forgetting lids to the bottles.  Yep--same week as #2. Thought I was losing my mind!  Sent an email out for Saran Wrap, and thanks to the science department, we were in business!  Here's how the final product looked when I got home:

Pathetic.  Simply pathetic! (But it all made it home so score 1 for Saran Wrap!)
Wonder what I'll do next?  The possibilities are endless!
