Day 13--Valdez, Ak

Today is glacier day!!! (And we got to sleep in an extra hour which we all needed, so win-win!)

Jeff booked us with Stan Stevens cruises and we got on with about 45 others to enjoy the day. The low-lying fog was so pretty--the pictures don't do it justice.
In the next 2 minutes, Ry added layers!!
It was *kind of* windy on board:
Edible seaweed showing on the edges
Discussing otters--we got to see severally groups hanging out at the surface playing around.
And....it was at this point they mentioned the boat had fuel pressure issues. We had to turn around and go back to the harbor. Due to our plans the next day, we opted to get a full refund and go on about our day. We had a 5-6 hour drive to our next location for July 4th, so this seemed like the best option. However, Jeff did book another glacier tour for July 8th, so we'll still get to see some!

This meant we had time to tour Valdez a bit. We hit a Chugach National Forest Visitor center with a waterfall behind it and the Solomon Gulch Fish Hatchery. We didn't get to see any salmon at the hatchery but we did get to see some sea lions swimming around!
Now that we had some time it was time to wash the coach! The boys are learning a lot of life skills on this trip.
We headed towards our next RV park in Palmer, AK, but we knew we were also passing up the location of our July 4th activity in Glacier View. There were so many spots to boondock near Glacier View and everywhere was beautiful so we decided to lose one night of our park stay and hang out in the middle of nowhere! We found a perfect dinner spot and then got to walk down to the river to blow off some steam. Riley is mastering the art of cooking ground meat.
I wanted a fun pic with the coach. Needs some editing. No one cared but me.....can you tell?? 😂

Activity #1: rock chunking
Activity #2: hitting sticks flowing down the river
Activity #3: boulder rolling
And yes.....that stubborn mule actually rolled it up a slight hill and I to the river (about 250 feet!)
Activity #4: climbing (no pics but I scrambled up some loose shale pretty quickly --for me!)

Each day I'm still amazed at how light it is. Here's a bedtime pic:
Pray for safe July 4th activities and traveling to the next location.
