No one really wants to make their bed, right? My mom taught me that it was the first thing you should do so you "feel ready" and your room isn't messy! Pretty sure I followed her thoughts until I went to college and realized I didn't care as much as I thought I did! Then I married a guy who didn't care and now I'm trying to raise my boys to make their beds....full circle for sure because I now realize it definitely helps your bedroom look a lot better!
The boys actually don't mind making their beds because they love arranging their pillows, animals, blankets, etc. I took this picture before we moved of Riley's bed. Instead of going right to sleep one night, he decided he needed to arrange everyone/everything! (In fact, as I'm typing this, they are playing "giraffe family" on their beds and have been playing it for about an hour! They love their beds/animals!)
We have a bed that comes down from the ceiling in the garage part of our toy hauler (which is the boys' bedroom). We brought the boys' twin beds so they would each be able to have their separate spaces. They hang off a little bit since we've put them length wise on the queen sized bed that comes down. Not perfect, but it works.
So in pictures, here's why bed making is my arch nemesis!
| Step One--Bed #1 (I had to squeeze b/t the bed and a shelf to get here!) |
| Step 2--Bed #1 means squeeze in between the beds |
| Step 1--Bed #2 (Yes that's the door to the outside) |
| Step 2--Bed #2 (Squeeze between the beds again) |
Whew! Finally done--and there was a teeny bit of sweat involved! The curtains are covering the windows to the deck--which is currently not down, but it's great to play on and have more room! |
| Finished product of the master bedroom. Way too many pillows, but oh well! |
All in all, it's not the worst as far as making beds goes. I've made it work. Having less space is just something to get used to. Making beds in the trailer is a must because any time you don't put something up, the entire trailer begins to look messy! It doesn't get done every day...but at least with the boys' beds, we can just throw everything on the beds and move it back up!
Here's what their room looks like with the beds up. We brought our reading poof, which we all love!
| And by all....I mean the dogs too! |
| Beds moved up to ceiling, poof, dog bed. (We did re-home the dogs at the beginning of February, so I'm glad I had these pics of them!) |
| The dogs made this area their home as well. Mommy hated it b/c of the dirt, but all the boys loved it! |
