Day 20 (July 10th)--Cooper Landing, AK + some

Riley has been waiting patiently for this day to arrive! Fly fishing poles, trout poles, waders, and all sorts of gear has been purchased. The goal: fishing in Alaska!

While driving to Homer yesterday, Ry found an app that let him explore different areas we drove by. It showed the type of fish caught and he was full of information as we were driving! Cooper Landing was close enough to us with a ton of guide services (that we weren't using), so we figured it would be a good place to start and then we'd work out way back to our campground.

First of all: we were so glad we waited to buy waders because we found them for an amazing price in Seward! We've had some weird negatives on this trip so that was a random plus!!
Can you tell Ry HATES when I take his picture?? 🤷😂

These pictures done do the area justice. The blue tinge of the river was beautiful.  The water was freezing--Jeff and Ry quickly realized 2 pairs of socks would have been a plus!
Getting some instructions on how to cast more effectively with fly fishing. Jeff was the expert: he'd done it one time prior to this trip! 😂
Bennett kept himself busy exploring and whittling. He doesn't like to fish so he knew this wasn't his day.

No luck at this fishing spot, so using Riley's app we found another. Notice the drops on the water. It was a chilly day!

The last spot we found was at a stocked lake. What we didn't know: the lake was a 2 mile hike from the parking lot (uphill). This was already at 430pm and we were planning on leaving our campground a night early so our drive to Denali wasn't so long the next day (and I complained), so we turned around to head home. However, we did have some Sasquatch sightings in the way back to the truck. Can you find him??
We packed up the campsite in the rain (always fun) and headed towards Anchorage. This next pic isn't pretty for anyone but me. I'm having to drive the rental truck while ours is getting fixed in Anchorage so I like to take shots of where we drive. This is along Turnagain Arm around 7pm and the mountains you can barely see in the distance were so pretty.
Dinner stop: Cane's!!  Bennett and I did the drive thru and met up with the coach down the road. Bennett could barely keep himself together having to wait to eat!

As always...it amazes me how light it is so late!

Next up: Denali National Park!

Prayers for safe travels, warning lights to stay off, and more fun family memories to be had!
