Point being...I actually don't mind pumping anymore. It is a guaranteed 10-30 minutes just for me. I learned how to do it quickly at school on my 30 minute lunch break (and that break included a bathroom run, microwave run, set up/take down of "the pump", and getting said pump ready for the conference period rush!). I've learned how to do it in the front seat of the car on the way into Houston for something. I've learned that the quick clean wipes are the bomb! So all in all, it's not a big deal to me anymore--unless I forget the pump or something important for pumping!
Here are some of my blunders in the 5 months I've been pumping:
- Not bringing the pump on a day trip (this was while I was still trying to nurse, so it wasn't deemed "important" at the time). HOWEVER, when we changed plans and decided to go visit my parents after the day trip, it was of PRIME importance. Hence, the stop at the Hallettsville Wal-Mart so Jeff could go buy a pump while I tried to nurse in the parking lot! All they had was a single electric pump and I had fun figuring it out in the car. Worked great as an extra, so it was well worth it to me!
Insert sound effect here: the "lock/load sound of a gun"--chk, chk
Insert sound effect here: the "pow" of a gun! This is how we have fun in the car!
- Forgetting the bottles. Yep--after Thanksgiving, apparently food had clouded my brain, so I packed everything BUT the bottles! Had to get a friend to cover the beginning of my class, so I could run home and get them about 10 minutes before school started! (Couldn't run home during lunch....needed that time to pump...see the issues???).
- Forgetting lids to the bottles. Yep--same week as #2. Thought I was losing my mind! Sent an email out for Saran Wrap, and thanks to the science department, we were in business! Here's how the final product looked when I got home:
Pathetic. Simply pathetic! (But it all made it home so score 1 for Saran Wrap!)
