Mani/Pedis

I love mani/pedis! I love how I get to do absolutely nothing but listen to the people around me, sometimes catch up on the phone myself, and wonder what the nail ladies are saying and who they're saying it about in the nail shop ('cause you know they are).

I'm also in favor of the men who are in there getting their feet taken care of. My Jeffery has gone once with me and my dad makes his own appointments in Victoria (those ladies adore him!). However....some men need to learn "Mani/Pedi Etiquette". Let's just take a looksie at some of those important lessons:

1. It is not necessary to say "You know...last time I came in, I had a fungus, but whatever you put in the water got rid of it." This only makes me want to go wash myself after I've gotten all pertied up on my toes.
2. It is not necessary to look at the man next to you (who is getting a pedi for the 1st time) and say, "Yeah...my feet looked like yours the 1st time I came in."---what are they now...Cinderella feet?
3. If you're going to make a big deal over how many times you (as a man) have gotten a pedi...make sure you have the number correct. This man changed his number at least 5 times in about 1 1/2 minutes! I have absolutely no clue how many I have had, but it's not an important thing to me....he on the other hand, with all his fungus and stuff....needs to keep track for some reason.

Those are the only rules of etiquette that I can think of at the moment. If anyone out there happens to have a lesson I need to put on the blog--please let me know. The women of the world will thank you---and the nail ladies will have fewer things to gossip about as they're doing our nails!

Welcome Baby Winton!

Ashley had her baby today--finally! Poor thing--she's been waiting and waiting and the little guy was apparently just very comfy in the womb!

Nicholas William Winton---born 4:22pm (North Carolina time)
weighed 8 lbs 5 oz. and was 20 1/2 inches

Mom and dad have been there since Friday, and even though I'm excited that they get to be there for this--I don't, so I'm jealous! I'm admitting it though--big step! Olivia apparently knew that when Gram and Pops came the baby was going to be coming and Friday night when they drove by the hospital on the way to Pizza Night, she asked, "Are we going to the hospital now, mommy?" Too cute--wish I was there!

I sent O and baby boy some clothes last week and the pink dress was a hit--so much so that she wore it to play on the swingset with Gram and Pops! I talked to her this morning and the first thing she told me (without prodding from anyone) was "I love my new pink dress, Steph" and "I love my pink ducky too!"--plastic girl ducky with cute eyelashes! She is just the cutest thing and has been keeping mom and dad on their toes! Then again, she's got them wrapped around her little fingers too, so they're pretty much even!

I'm just so excited we now have a little boy--he's going to be our guinea pig for so much stuff--he just has no clue what he's in for! We know exactly what to do with girls, so it'll all be new!

Hmmm...

Tampon in the hallway at school today. Still wrapped, but still. Tampon. In the hallway. What's next? Do I even want to know?

Funny Stuff Just Happens

So I went to work out today--actually ran 10 minutes out of 30 on the treadmill--whew! After that I HAD to go to the scrapbook store for something wedding related (Jeff says that's like a kid HAVING to go into a candy store, but oh well!). While I was driving I talked to Court and ate the rest of my little snack mix from school (yummy honey roasted nuts, sesame sticks, peanuts, etc.), and as I ate, I did realize that a little bit of the honey roasted stuff fell on my shirt. However...while talking to Court I forgot about it.

1.5 hours later.....sitting in line at Schlotzky's and I look down to see the stuff STILL stuck to my shirt! Have I seen/stood right in front of people looking like a slob for almost 2 hours? Yes! To add to it, did I smell like the gym? Yes!

This may not seem funny to some of you, but to me it is. It's just typical of my life right now. I try to remember some things and I just don't. I make lists and they are now getting buried at the bottom of bags (my new cute Vera Bradley that I treated myself to on a bad day at school!).

Moral of the day: always double check yourself when people are going to be looking at you---especially after eating sticky foods!

Weekend Fun

For those of you not "in the know"...Cuero is one of the BEST places to shop for cute clothes! It's not even fun to shop in Houston any more because they don't have the cute, fun stuff that Cuero does. Here's a list of the fun stuff I got this weekend:

1. 3 dresses
2. 2 pairs of shoes---one of them is the pair for our wedding!!!
3. 3 boob tubes--yes, that's the name! They're tube tops in colors that you wear under your lower cut shirts/dresses. Needless to say, I'm now in style
4. Replacement gym bag--this one definitely beats the current gym bag--my green cheerleading bag from high school with my name on it (although in it's defense, it literally is the BEST bag ever with pockets, room, etc)

Not only did I get to have fun shopping with mom...Jeff got to do some hog hunting with dad. Only 1 hog, so not much luck---but apparently the naps they took were good!

And on the last family news...Chip had a blast playing with Ruth and Runge. Saturday I filled the pool for them and he absolutely loved it! He just stretched out, splashed, drank the water, and pretty much wouldn't let Ruth in. Too bad he's so large 'cause I'm gonna have to get him one for the summer---my Chipper deserves the best plastic pool there is!

Kids + May = AGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

*15 more days with the kids.
*I'm not happy to go to school any more.
*Kids think that since TAKS is over, school's over (yeah---it's not)
*I now want my "Friday Cappucino Treat" every day just to have something to look forward to (but I don't).
*I'm using copies of things in my file cabinets just to keep some kids busy (it is legit though since it's comprehension skill practice)--and hey, I made the copies to use sometime but never did!
*I'm so not motivated for the gym so I go have a mani/pedi, so at least that looks good!

And....today I realized that corporal punishment of a sort could still be used by me: I have the "Arctic Blast" of the A/C right outside my room. So....from now on if a kid clicks their tongue at me, is smart-mouthed, or anything that just doesn't float my boat....they get to stay out there for the remainder of the period. I'm okay with this---and just to prove my point to them I periodically go check on them and if they've moved away from my door b/c "Missss, it's cold"---then I force them to sit back in the cold spot.

Cruel. Mean. Don't care. AP's don't help, so this is what I'm stuck with!

Happy 15 days left of school to all!

Sidenote: I am not in a pissy mood--just REALLY want the parents of my students to learn a little respect themselves and then pass it on to their child b/c I'm a little busy during the class period to include that to 15 kids too!
