Evening temp: warmer than 33°! I forgot I wanted to note this!!
Old Faithful geyser area was the plan today. The boys wanted to see geysers (and the waiting for them to erupt officially took the fun out of that desire!!).
We left the campground around 715 am and made it there around 8am. We splurged on a breakfast buffet at the Old Faithful Inn. (I honestly suggested it because Jeff and I did this in 2007 and I wanted the memory to share with the boys.) The inn is beautiful and later on we took some time to walk around it.
Then it was off to see the geysers! Jeff and I didn't remember all of these being so close together back in 2007, but I'm guessing they didn't move!! Maybe we were just so in love back then we didn't take note!
Lunch was gourmet (made by mom) sandwiches while we people watched! I love that I've taught the boys this past-time!!
We headed to Grand Prismatic spring in hopes of seeing all the amazing colors but because it was a day of cooler temps, there was too much steam blocking the colors. We wanted to take the overlook hike to see them better but the parking lot was NOT a place we wanted to wait! Our favorite part was that Jeff and Riley have an app that tells temperature, so whenever we found a little spot we could get to, it was fun to see how hot the water was!
By this time we were all pretty done with the sulphur smell of all this geothermal neatness, so we just drove. Jeff found a great spot to just hang out by the river and we all took a little rest! What a great end to the day of adventure!
We ended the day with game night in the coach! What an exhausting but fun day!
