Our 2 Month-Old Cutie!
Growth
- Your 2 month check-up was on October 12th. You weighed 12.4 lbs and were 23.5 inches long! (You've gained 5 pounds and 3 inches since birth!)
- You got shots for (oh heck, I'm not even going to try to remember...it was the normal ones!)
Sleeping
Put you on the playmat to wake you up....didn't work!
- The week I went home to visit Gram and Pops you started sleeping about 8 hours a night! It seems that almost every week or 2 you gain a half hour to an hour of sleep and although it causes me to worry (surprise!!) about getting enough feedings into you each day, we're loving the sleep you get!
- While in Cuero, I had to actually wake you up a few times so we could get our feedings in for the day--Cuero life apparently relaxes you too!
Chillin' in Cuero
Eating
- You're starting to wake up and being okay for a few minutes before we feed you a bottle--THAT is amazing! This doesn't happen every time, but we'll take the few times it does happen!
- I took you "eating" your fist (at about 9.5 weeks) as you finding your hand to soothe yourself. Daddy, Brent, and even the man in the church nursery told me it meant you were hungry, and lo and behold I started giving you more food and you took it like a champ! I've bumped you back up to 5 ounces at every feeding---sometimes you get a little more...just depending on what I've got! You are literally eating us out of milk this week and I haven't frozen any!
- HOWEVER...you've slept a few nights for 10-11 hours and we think this is TOO much sleep b/c you are cranky during the day. You slept so much, you only got 5 feedings in, so we had to up those amounts too. I tried as hard as I could to figure it all out with daddy's help, and this is what we concluded. Are we right??? Time will tell!
What You Do...
- While in Cuero, I really started to notice your laugh. I thought I'd caught it the week before, but now we really have heard it! You suck in air and it almost sounds like a gasping sound, but you smile so big while doing it that we know it's your laugh! I'm wondering if you have picked up the sucking in air from when we look at you, make faces, and are amazed at something!
- At 9 weeks, you started "talking" a little to us--which scared us the first time we heard it b/c it was a sucking in-squeal sound we'd never heard before and you'd just eaten, so we weren't sure what it was!
- The "boy in the mirror" is a fun guy! You really like to watch him and are amazed that he's so much like you! Daddy and I get a big kick out of this!
- You've started grabbing onto things better too. In Cuero, you "grabbed" your owl toy. I call it this even though it was probably a fluke with you just moving your hands, but you seemed happy with it!
- On Halloween, you rolled over for the first time! We'd been helping you roll from tummy to back, and you did it a few times by yourself that same day and the next. We haven't really seen it since then, but you're moving more and more on your tummy, so I know it will come in time!
- Water splashes are now the best thing about bathtime! You realized too that you could push your feet against the end of the tub and the wave that came back was a lot of fun! It's funny to watch how shocked you are when a little water gets on your face from these splashes! Water truly calms you down--you are your daddy's child! I can turn on the faucet and you immediately stop to listen if you're near it!
