"The Daily"

I had a friend suggest a few weeks ago that since I was off for the summer (which, by the way is the most hated quote for all teachers to hear.....since I taught summer school for a month and am now at a 3-day training and go back in 3 weeks).....that I actually make the blog a true "Dickens Daily". So...that's what you're getting since we've been out of town and I haven't blogged in almost 2 weeks! Get ready for some fun readin' folks!

1. Friday, July 4th---mowed the lawn, did laundry, packed for Florida trip, and drove to see Jeff. Ate dinner with Deb and Bill and watched fireworks from the roof---which was fun despite my bad mood at not "going to see them" and the bugs.


2. Saturday, July 5th--drove to Florida. Took a breakfast trip at "The Broken Egg" in Mandeville, LA (yum, yum, yum) and the scenic route through Destin to get to Panama City.

3. Sunday, July 6th--Scalloping on the bay in Port St. Joe. Got a little rained out at first, but went out and got the sun to shine. Not much luck scalloping--only found about 10 when 2 years ago we found buckets full! Chip had a blast being in the water and liked that since we were in the bay he could stand up on his back legs and balance on someone or something--usually Jeff! Later that day, we got to meet Ashley's baby (Jeff's sister Ashley, not mine), Ethan, who was born the end of June--26th I think--who was absolutely precious!

4. Monday, July 7th---Wig Day! Mary is a breast cancer survivor and after asking about her wigs (because her hair is so beautiful now) we decided to go out to eat with them on. It didn't happen because of a complainer (I won't name names.....) and have alter egos---Sophie and Jude---the bad 80's hairdo couple. The wigs were cute--just not on us!

5. Tuesday, July 8th--celebrated Mary's birthday with pizza and poker night. That's about it! We might have played in the bay that day with Chip--don't remember!

6. Wednesday, July 9th---Biscuit day! Mary makes these amazing sausage biscuits with sausage gravy, eggs, bacon, etc---the whole works! It pretty much stuffs you for the day and is sooo good! Here's a pic of the biscuits--before all the "treatment".

7. Thursday, July 10th--went canoeing with Danny (Jeff's brother), his girlfriend, and a friend down a freezing, spring-fed river. So much fun--10 miles of paddling fun and adventures! Passed out on the bed afterwards and watched TV all night with Mary while Jeff and his dad did some night fishing.

8. Friday, July 11th--That evening Jeff's sister Danielle took some pics of us by the bay--we were going to do the sunset pictures on the beach, but the weather didn't work with us, but we had fun anyway!

9. Saturday, July 12th/Sunday, July 13th---Driving back to TX!!! We had a great time, but I was ready to get back home. We spent Saturday night in Mississippi with Jeff's dad and Mary and gambled a little bit---I lost with my money, but won with $10 of Jeff's dad's moolah! Got home late Sunday in time for laundry and grocery shopping!

10. Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday--July 14, 15, 16---I'm taking a training while Jeff is working on house stuff. Next stop....maid!!! If only we could put Chip to work---now that would be the life!

Not the most interesting life for some....but I've enjoyed the past 2 weeks! Love that Jeff is on leave for 2 more weeks. I love getting to actually spend time with him that's not on a weekend! Not sure if the "daily" will continue, but after this....it may not be wanted any more!!!
