Our 1st Summer Daycation

Jeff and I took our 1st summer daycation (a day-long vacation...and yes, I coined the word!) to Kemah. We left early Saturday morning and got to Kemah early enough to get great parking--a true feat in itself! We hopped right in line to buy our all-day ride passes and started on the rides. The 1st ride, the Pharoah's Fury, which is the boat that just swings back and forth was probably our least favorite ride. However, we absolutely LOVED the Inverter where you swing back and forth and hang upside down! The best was the Boardwalk Bullet though--the wooden roller coaster. Minus the sore neck the next day...it was a blast! On the rides, I gripped the handrails and Jeff giggled the entire way, which we have found out is our age indicator--that the days of theme park amusements are rough on the body, but good for the soul!

We met up with his old Coastie roommate Tony and his wife Connie for dinner and a night out on the town. Jeff and I were thrilled to get ID'd at Buddy Ruff's, but the Monkey Bar was our favorite hang out. Sunday we did breakfast at our hotel and then went back to the Kemah Boardwalk. We really wanted to ride the Joe's Crab Shack boat, the Beast, which is the fast/wet boat ride. We had a blast and got soaked along the way! Luckily, the suitcases were in the car, but in reality we weren't that bad off! Did a little shopping with Tony and Connie and then headed back home to Chipper---who was loved on this weekend by Amy and Jon.

I highly recommend getting out of town even if it's only for a day. We had so much fun and were only 50 miles from home! Wonder where our next dacation will be???
