So...most people don't like Sunday b/c it means the weekend is over. HOWEVER...I'm not sure most people know about the excitement and drama on Sunday nights known as "HGTV'S Design Star". That, my friends, is what makes me happy.
Let's just analyze last night's show. First of all, I love watching with Jeff. He and I are very critical of the designers (like we could do better!), and this is the one reality show he'll watch with me. (I have a "reality show problem" thanks to Courtney getting me hooked on Big Brother a few years back--now there's no stopping me!) Now...there are 2 contestants, Michael and Tracee who are self-proclaimed "winners of Design Star". Except that one got kicked off last night and the other has been in the bottom for the past 3 weeks. Tons of drama every week revolving around them.
I'm going to focus on Michael--who got kicked off last night--and is from Texas (College Station to be specific....but he gives us Aggies a bad name, so we're stopping there). I'm determined that he is trying to start new catch phrases like Christian, the winner of Project Runway, did with "Fierce". Last night all they would tape him saying is "That's tragic, with a capital T-erragic", or "That's just ferosh". Makes me laugh so hard b/c on the very 1st episode, he was the one who couldn't "explain himself as a designer" and walked off crying. And they STILL let him be a contestant!!!
Last night they got to design by themselves for the 1st time and it was based on a country, so he picked Spain since he'd "been there millions of times". I've never been to Spain, but he was so proud of his plexi-glass floor night-club-loungy-club-area (which was a black room with a green stripe, art, and green bushes on a table), and shocked the judges didn't like it. However, the topper was all of his crying, his lip actually folding over trembling, and his last elevator send-off words "I want my mommy". Yes, folks--you read it right..."I want my mommy." That was enough to send me and Jeff rolling last night.
That's good TV---you can't get stuff like that on those shows that have scripts---just the good old reality TV. Ahhhh....what a way to start my week!
