As Luck Would Have It...

We prepared amazingly well for our first long-term hotel visit!  We'd done one overnight before, but Jeff's parents kept B since it was a date night for us, so this "being in one room together thing" was new to us.  Jeff had to work again in San Antonio, so, it being summer, B and I tagged along and kept ourselves busy!  I decided I wanted to make a list of what you absolutely MUST have  in order to successfully stay in a hotel room with a 10 month old!
  • Toys--need I say more?  Definitely need something other than everything in the hotel room to keep him occupied!

  • The ability to rearrange the room to your needs.  Pack-N-Play under the desk shelf, desk moved, chairs moved to cover outlets/cords, etc!  The rocking/swiveling desk chair was great as a back-up rocker!
  • Window--self-explanatory again, but a definite PLUS!
  • Dishwashing liquid for bottle washing.  This was the ONE thing we forgot!  Luckily, as Jeff went downstairs to buy some, the guy who brought up the Pack-N-Play (PNP) heard him and got him some from the kitchen!  LOVE Hampton Inn!
  • Bottle brushes--yeah.  Want to make sure you don't give baby some lovely disease just b/c you forgot the brushes.  At least I remembered those!
  • Personal items for sleeping--Naturally, I brought a lovey and a blanket, but I also brought a crib sheet.  Thank goodness, because the ones they included with the PNP were regular flat sheets and they wouldn't have lasted a minute with our wiggle worm!  He'd have figured out how to remove those in a flash!  (Side note:  bring 2!  With it being so hot outside, B's been drinking more water, and let's just say that a diaper didn't make it all night!)
  • Baby washcloths--I mentioned these in another post months ago, but I still use them daily when he eats.  Apparently (according to Jeff) I'm a messy feeder!
  • Food--pack enough for each day and then some!  With our yummy breakfast, we scored some Cheerios, yogurt and a waffle for B.  That helps tremendously, especially since he's going through a growth spurt right now and is chowing down on any and all food we put in front of him!
Food, glorious food!
  • Various things to "rig" a sleeping area.  Thank goodness I'd brought a picnic blanket and Jeff had some cable ties in his bag.  Sticking the blanket in the closet door and attaching it to the lamp with the ties meant B had some privacy.  It also meant he couldn't see us--which would have been the biggest thing to disrupt his sleeping.  I mean...he's never even slept in a PNP before, so the fact that we changed 2 things on him in one night (PNP and same room as us) was a recipe for disaster!  BUT....our guy is amazing and did his normal fuss for a few and then passed out!

Thank you Eddie Bauer wire ties and thank you hubby for keeping them in your computer bag!
