New Year's Resolutions...

...are stupid!

Enough said---but not really! I hate New Year's resolutions because they don't stick. No one's does. In fact, if I ever made one that lasted more than a week I'd be surprised. The only time I stuck to a diet was this summer when I had gestational diabetes--and even then I only did it for my baby!

However, I'm giving it another try this year simply because I'm sick and tired of being "in CHAOS" (Can't Have Anyone Over Syndrome). I didn't think of this catchy phrase, I stole it. I stole it from the Flylady. I heard about Flylady.net a few years ago and thought it wasn't worthwhile enough to try it, but I've decided to give it another go! It's a website where they guide you through cleaning your house baby step by baby step, and although some of it is very overwhelming and seems insane, I still want to try it!

I used my 2 week Christmas break to slowly prep myself to get started to start this new "clean house/clean life" journey and I'm excited to see how it goes. Here are the basics:

  • Each part of the house is divided into 5 zones and you tackle only one zone a week (I can do that!).

  • They talk about "hot spots" (those places where things land and die....) in your house that you tackle for 15 minutes a day (I can do that!).

  • Make a routine for the morning, evening, and any other time you see fit (Um....I can do that!!!).

  • Check your emails for your daily missions--these only take about 15 minutes (I can do that!).

  • Take babysteps to get your house out of CHAOS (I can do that--especially with a baby!!).

I'll try to document my progress with my *new* camera 'cause I'm sure taking pictures with certain art effects on them will make it seem more fun (and it will give me practice with the camera on something other than Bennett!)

I started my morning routine today and got most of it done before I left for work. I may need to tweak a few things, but that's why I already have my routines typed out...so I can make changes, print again the next month, and go!

My stepmother owned a cleaning business for 20 years. She knows a LOT about keeping her house clean and she uses the flylady in her own house. Swears by it. Me? I use my kids... just don't look at my bedroom. Good luck!
