Desert Tower

Sunday, January 8, 2017

Jeff works 1/2 days on Sunday so after the boys and I tried out a new church, we met him at home, switched cars, and headed out explore our new hood!

Today's first stop:  Desert Tower--a random spot on I-8 (otherwise known as "The 8" in this area) about 40 minutes from El Centro.
.

You can see Desert Tower from the road--if you know where to look--UP!

Seen on the road leading up to the tower, which made us laugh!

The inside of the tower is a gift shop with a lovely musty smell and a few trinkets worth looking at! Take a few flights of stairs to the top and you get this view:
El Centro is out there--somewhere!

Our tickets (maybe $20-$25 total) took us up this tower and all around the cave/tunnels of Boulder park--which is famous for it's carved animals in the rocks. I got a few pics, but the boys (all 3 of them) were so excited that I had to stop taking pics in order to catch up!

Carvings in the rocks

The boys absolutely loved their first rock climb and today my legs are feeling it--which is a good thing!  I did manage to coerce everyone to take a group pic and our wonderful photographer Bennett actually got a great pic of mommy and daddy!

I don't know why, but this is our "rock climbing" pose! (Maybe because our hands are out ready to climb???)

Here are just some fun pics from our climb--which took about an hour because we just took our time and let the boys explore.

Handsome kid!

Cheese!

Daddy is thrilled to have his buddies climb with him!
